Black Welsh wool is highly desirable for fiber artists looking for high quality spinning fleeces and wool products. The fleeces can be dark-black or a reddish-black color called gwlân cochddu (red-black wool in Welsh). The staple length is 2-4 inches with a fiber diameter generally around 26.4 to 32.69 (the Bradford count is 48s to 56s).
